Events Calendar

In the winter season (October - April) PCC meets every Tuesday night at Clennon Valley swimming Pool and during the summer season (May - September) the meet changes each week so please refer to the events calendar below. For additional information, please see the Club Nights page.

In addition to the events listed on this page, please keep an eye on the forum and our facebook page to see what's on week to week.

Tuesday Night Paddles - Summer 2019

Meeting times will be at 7pm (unless stated otherwise).  There will be no changing facilities at these locations and the club trailer will not be brought due to parking and security issues. 
 
If you wish to hire a club boat for any Tuesday club session please contact us at least 2 days before to organise.
 
May
 
7th: Stoke Gabriel paddle:  Meet at the River shack Stoke Gabriel for a paddle on the Dart
 
14th: Youngs Park Road, Goodrington for general Paddle in the Bay (Plan to have a trial intermediate sea kayak training and practice session). Beginners’ course will be meeting at Paignton harbour.  PCC boats and kit being hired for the summer season to be picked up at the harbour 9.15pm after the beginners’ course has finished with them.
 
21st: Preston Sea Front.  Paddle to Meadfoot and/or London Bridge, Torquay harbour and return. (if there is demand we can also practice sea kayaking strokes)
 
28th: Stoke Gabriel to Dittisham:  Meet at the River Shack Stoke Gabriel for paddle down-stream to the pub at Dittisham for a drink before returning.  (Bring money for drinks and snacks from the pub)
 
June
 
4th:  River Teign Clean.  Meet at Town key Newton Abbot to paddle the Teign and maybe the Lemon and clean up as much litter as we can.  At least 1 canoe needed as a garbage barge. (take lots of photos)
 
11th: Rescue Practice Session. Meet Youngs Park Road, Goodrington to practice rescues, rolling, towing and anything else. Dress to get wet, expect to swim!
 
18th: Kingswear to Brixham.  Meet at Brixham Breakwater car park at 6.30pm to organise shuttle to Kingswear, paddle to Brixham. A long committing 9 mile paddle for longer sea and touring kayaks only! Bring lights for possible night finish
 
25th: BBQ at Silver Cove.  Meet Youngs Park Road Goodrington to paddle to Silver Cove for BBQ and Return.  Bring lights, food and Kit for a BBQ.
 
July
 
2nd: Orestone.  Meet Meadfoot to paddle out and around the Orestone for shorter boats and Thatchers Rock for longer boats and return.
 
9th: AS Watersports Demo Night for PCC.  Park Haven Banks Car Park. AS Watersports will have their demo fleet of boats for PCC members to try out for the session. Dress to get wet.
 
16th: [Rearranged] Rescue Practice Session. Meet Youngs Park Road, Goodrington to practice rescues, rolling, towing and anything else. Dress to get wet, expect to swim! [Note: this was originally a Totnes Paddle from Steamer key but it has been changed as the original rescue session was cancelled]
 
23rd: Babbacombe to Coombe Cellars.  Meet 6.30pm Coombe Cellars to organise shuttle to Babbacombe.  Paddle via Teignmouth to Coombe Cellars and then drinks at the pub, a long paddle ideal for longer boats.  There is the possible option for those in shorter to boats to paddle up from Coombe Cellars and return.  Bring lights!
 
30th: Freshwater Quay to Broadsands:  Meet Freshwater Quay Brixham, paddle to boradsands and return (If there is interest can do more sea kayak training on this paddle)
 
August
 
6th: Berry Head Caves:  Meet Brixham Break Water car park to paddle out around Berry head, explore the caves and return.  Bring helmets and lights.
 
13th: BBQ institute beach:  Meet at Preston sea front for a paddle to institute beach, BBQ and return.  Bring food and kit for BBQ and lights.
 
20th: Kingswear Paddle around Dartmouth. Meet Darthaven Mariner car park, Kingswear, paddle direction dependent on the weather and the group so could be down stream out to sea and return or up-stream and return.
 
27th: Exeter swing bridge to turf locks pub.  Meet and park at the rowing club by the swing bridge on the A379 Exeter.  Paddle to Turf locks (either using the river or the canal depending on the weather) for drink and return on the canal.  Bring money and warm clothes for the pub and lights for return journey
 
September
 
1st: [Sunday] Ayrtons Dream Swim - Kayak support needed. Sheltered 4 mile paddle helping a fab group of people. Suitable for anyone who has completed the Beginners Improvers course, 2 star etc. Any boat. Contact Tim Durrant.

3rd: Stoke Gabriel to Bow Creek: Meet The River Shack by the Millpond, Stoke Gabriel, paddle upstream to Bow creek Pub for drinks and snacks and return.  Bring money, lights and warm clothes for the Pub

10th: Preston Beach hut boat swap.  Meet at Preston green for general paddle, practice and boat swap. 
 
17th: Meadfoot to Torquay:  Meet at mead foot to paddle to Torquay for chips and return.  Bring money and warm clothes for chips and lights.
 
23rd (Monday):  Kit Return and check:  All PCC kit hired for the summer to be returned 7pm at Paignton Harbour and kit checked for winter season (any and all help much appreciated)
 
24th: Rope Work evening followed by first Pool session at Torbay Leisure centre. Come to either or both. 
 
October 2019 to April 2020 - Return to the Pool and Annual Memberships Due. Start of the PCC 2018 Winter season, subs due, back in Torbay Leisure centre Pool for 9pm. 

October 4th [Friday] Paignton Canoe Club AGM.  To be held at the Manor Pub in Preston with food and optional skittles

Decemner 13th [Friday] Christmas Party.  To be held at Below Decks in Torquay

All paddling trips and events are entirely weather dependent.  All Paddle sport has a certain risk to it. It is not and never will be 100% safe. Anyone attending any and all Paignton canoe club activities does so at their own risk. Pcc rules can be found at:
