Events Calendar
In the winter season (October - April) PCC meets every Tuesday night at Clennon Valley swimming Pool and during the summer season (May - September) the meet changes each week so please refer to the events calendar below. For additional information, please see the Club Nights page.
In addition to the events listed on this page, please keep an eye on the forum and our facebook page to see what's on week to week.
Tuesday Evening - Pool Sessions [October 2018 to April 2019]
Pool nights as normal every Tuesday 9pm to 10pm unless stated below:
11th December - Big Boat Pool Session
The pool session on the 11th December will be a BIG BOAT session. The
pool will be given over for people to try their bigger boats in the pool. Feel
free to bring your touring kayaks, sea kayaks, canoes, SOTs and any other larger
craft (obviously within reason) to practice in the warmth of the pool.
Sat 15th December - Dart River Clean
We shall be cleaning the section from Buckfastleigh to Staverton.
This is a moving water section so paddlers must be confident on this. More

25th December / 1st January - No Pool Sessions
15th January - Rescue Training and Games Pool Session
The pool session on 15th January 2019 Will be a rescue practice/training and
games session. More details to come
29th January - Big Boat Pool Session
The pool session on the 29th January will be a BIG BOAT session. The

Tuesday Night Paddles - Summer 2018
Meeting times will be at 7pm (unless stated otherwise). There will be no
changing facilities at these locations and the club trailer will not be brought
due to parking and security issues.
If you wish to hire a club boat for any Tuesday club sessions please contact us
at least 2 days before to organise.
May
1st: Youngs Park Road, Goodrington for general Paddle in the Bay.
Beginners’ course will be meeting at Paignton harbour.
8th: Youngs Park Road, Goodrington for general Paddle in the Bay.

15th: Kingswear to Dittisham. Meet Darthaven Mariner car park, Kingswear, paddle
upstream to Dittisham for a drink at the pub and return. Bring lights and
money and warm clothes for the pub. Beginners’ course will be meeting at
Paignton harbour.
22nd: Meadfoot to Torquay. Meet at Meadfoot (Torquay) car park, paddle to
Torquay harbour for chips and return.
29th: Paddle the Teign. Meet at the Passage House Pub (Newton Abbot), split the
group if desired. First group (no long boats please) run shuttle up to the
Teign and Stover canal car park or clay lane (depending on conditions and the
group) to run the Teign; 2nd group to paddle upstream from Passage house
to meet the 1st group, finish at the Passage house for drinks.
June
5th: Rescue Practice Session. Meet Youngs Park Road, Goodrington to practice
Rescues, towing and anything else. Dress to get wet!
12th: Orestone paddle. Meet Meadfoot to paddle out and around the Orestone
and/or Thatchers Rock and return.
19th: Explore Dartmouth towards Blackpool Sands. Meet Darthaven Mariner
car park, Kingswear. Paddle out to sea; turn right towards Blackpool Sands
explore and return.
26th: Paddle the Exe: Park Haven Banks Car park by AS watersports Exeter.
Paddle the Exe either down the canal or down the weirs and return. Helmets
required if running the weirs. Bring lights and money for possible stop at
double locks pub.
July
3rd: Kingswear to Brixham. Meet at Brixham Breakwater car park at 6.30pm
to organise shuttle to Kingswear, paddle to Brixham. A long committing 9 mile
paddle for longer boats only. Bring lights for possible night finish
6th - 8th: Tryweryn Weekend. See Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1745398432148786/,

10th: BBQ at Silver Cove. Meet Youngs Park Road Goodrington to paddle
to Silver Cove for BBQ and Return. Bring lights, food and Kit for a BBQ.
17th: Babbacombe to Coombe Cellars. Meet 6.30pm Coombe Cellars to organise
shuttle to Babbacombe. Paddle via Teignmouth to Coombe Cellars and then
drinks at the pub, long paddle ideal for longer boats. There
is the possible option for those in shorter to boats to paddle up from Coombe
Cellars and return. Bring lights
24th: Stoke Gabriel to Dittisham. Meet The River Shack by the Millpond, paddle
downstream to Dittisham for drink in the pub and return. Bring moneu
lights and warm clothes for the pub.
29th: Club Foundation Safety and Rescue Course (advanced booking required)
31st: Totnes Paddle. Meet Steamer Quay car park, Totnes paddle upstream
as far as we can go and return.
August
7th: Oxen Cove to Broadsands. Meet Oxen Cove (Brixham) for local paddle to
Broadsands and return.
14th: Preston to Institution Beach BBQ. Meet Preston sea fron to paddle to
Institution beach for a BBQ and return. Bring lights warm clothes and food
and kit for BBQ.
21st: Berry Head Caves: Meet Brixham Break Water car park to paddle out
around Berry head, explore the caves and return. Bring helmets and lights.
28th: Cockwood to Turf Lock. Meet Cockwood, paddle up the Exe estuary to Turf
Lock pub, drinks and return (in the dark!). Bring lights and money for the pub
and warm clothes.
September
2nd: Ayrtons Dream Charity Swim: See

4th: AS Watersports Demo Night for PCC. Park Haven Banks Car
Park. AS Watersports will have their demo fleet of boats for PCC members to try
out for the night.
We will also be doing a throw-line practice session so bring your throw-lines
please!
11th Stoke Gabriel to Bow Creek: Meet the River Shack by the Millpond, Stoke
Gabriel, and paddle upstream to Bow creek Pub for drinks and snacks and return.
Bring money, lights and warm clothes for the Pub
18th: Preston Boat swap and BBQ. Meet at Preston beach for a boat swapping
session! Also BBQ at Tim’s beach hut!!! Everyone bring different boats and
try out each other’s and food/drink for BBQ.
25th: Annual General Meeting. (No paddling) location to be arranged.
October
1st: KIT CLEAN and sort at the end of the summer season (7pm,
Paignton Harbour).
All PCC boats and kit hired out to be returned for this
please. Any and all help very much appreciated. Deposits on PCC boats hired for
the summer season will be returned when all boats kit are returned undamaged
with all attachments in place and in appropriate condition to this event (or
before)
2nd: Return to the Pool. Start of the PCC 2018 Winter
season, subs due, back in Torbay Leisure centre Pool for 9pm.
All paddling trips and events are entirely weather dependent. All Paddle sport has a certain risk to it. It is not and never will be 100% safe. Anyone attending any and all Paignton canoe club activities does so at their own risk. Pcc rules can be found at:
